In the world of electric scooters, the Segway Ninebot E2 eKickScooter Pro ($599.99) stands out for its stylish appearance and efficiency for commuters. It doesn’t matter if you are rushing through the city or looking for a more eco-friendly way to make short trips around town, the E2 Pro has a range of features to make it a comfortable and safe ride.
Design and Build Quality
The first thing I noticed about the Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro was how sleek it was. The minimalist design was attractive to the eye, and I could tell from the start this was going to be a nice ride. The frame comes in at around 41 lbs. It folds easily so, if you have to carry it onto another form of transportation, it won’t be too much trouble.
The setup from assembly to riding was streamlined. The Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro itself only has one main piece to assemble. The app syncs right up with it and makes it super easy to get through the various steps. I went from assembly to riding in about 15 minutes (minus the charging time).
Performance
At a price point of $599.99, this is a budget-friendly scooter, but that doesn’t mean it skimps on performance. The maximum power of 750W makes sure you have the power to take on up to 18% inclines. On a full charge, you can go around 21.7 miles, which makes it great for quick trips around town. The top speed is a comfortable 15.5 mph. The handling is smooth and speeds up and slows down without jolting you around. The kickstart takes some getting used to, but, once you get the hang of it, it’s not bad at all.
My son was able to watch me for a few minutes and then hop on and take a trip around the neighborhood with no instruction.
Comfort and Safety
The E2 Pro sports two 10-inch tubeless-free tires, which help with shock absorption. I took the tires for a spin from pavement to grass and it handled it rather well. I didn’t feel like I was going to be thrown from the scooter when I changed terrain.
As for safety features, the E2 Pro features front drum and rear electric brakes and an anti-skid traction control system. The built-in front and rear indicators help to make sure you are seen no matter the time of day.
Technology Behind The Ride
The technology in the Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro is simple and to the point. The digital display shows my speed, riding mode, and battery level and lets me control the direction indicators, speed, and riding mode.
The user-friendly app is easy to get around and keeps you informed without overwhelming you.
A feature worth mentioning is Apple Find My. In the event your scooter takes a ride without you (a.k.a gets stolen), you can find it again. This is particularly useful for the authorities to help you recover your scooter.
The Guard Mode is a cool feature that disables the scooter and slows down anyone trying to ride away with it. These days, though, loud alarms are ignored and few people turn a head towards the sound except in annoyance. This feature is also only available when the scooter is powered on. It’s not practical to rely on this if you have to drain the battery to use it.
For that reason, I would recommend you familiarize yourself with the Guard function but opt for a physical lock instead. That will prevent someone from picking it up and walking away with it without draining your battery.
Final Thoughts
The Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro is a great scooter for someone who is looking for reliability and style.
I like that it’s super easy to set up and get going. The safety features, like front and rear braking, the 2.8-inch display screen, front and rear lights, and the IPX4 weather-resistant design make it something I trust my son on. At $599.99 you just can’t beat the value.
