Last week Nintendo released a bizarre teaser video that appeared to show gamers the world over using an elasticized resistance band with Joy-Con inserts to play… something. (I immediately dubbed it “The Nintendo Inner Tube.”)

Today, however, the product was introduced in earnest as the Ring-Con and Leg Strap, accessories designed for use with Nintendo’s latest fitness game, Ring Fit Adventure. In it, you’ll use real-world exercises to simulate in-game actions like movement and attacks.
With mini-games, Quick Play, and an expansive Adventure Mode, Ring Fit Adventure will lead motivated warriors across 20 worlds, learning 40 Fit Skills in a quest to defeat Dragaux, “a giant, chiseled dragon with an ego to match his oversized muscles.”
Releasing on the Nintendo Switch on October 18 at an MSRP of $79.99, this seems to be the spiritual successor to both the seminal Wii Fit and the quirkier fantasy leanings of other first-party titles like Miitopia. Honestly, that’s a combination I can really get behind, and I can’t wait to share this wonderfully weird gaming experience with my family.
Check out the trailer below to get a look at Ring Fit Adventure, including how the Joy-Cons work with the bundled Ring-Con and Leg Strap.
