The convention season really ramps up this, the second weekend in March. Convention Connection for week 10 2019 showcases a number of notable conventions all across the United States and around the world, including the StokerCon in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the Branson Comic Con in Branson, Missouri. Included in this week’s Convention Connection is the audio of my interview with Andrea Smith, organizer of Branson Comic Con, where we discuss planning and running the first-year event.
Comics & Geek Culture Conventions
The spotlight convention for the weekend of March 8 through March 10 is the Big Apple Comic Con in New York, New York. The event runs Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10. Celebrity and creator guests in attendance include William Shatner, Mike Colter, Brent Spiner, Kathleen Turner, David Gerrold, Gigi Edgley The Amazing Kreskin, John O’Hurley, Tony Isabella, Jim Steranko, Frank Cho, Jae Lee, Mark Texeira, Peter David, Bob Camp, and more. The event features a number of panels and a costume contest on Saturday evening. Tickets to the event can be purchased online.
