Bodaciously Awesome Family Show: Zach Tries to Destroy Priceless Art at the Biltmore Estate

BAFS Podcasts

There are inherently many problems when traveling with kids. You need to carefully balance things you want to do – with things that will keep their interest. Or, “boring stuff” (as they’ll say) with “cool stuff” (that they want). Naturally, with all the other items on our vacation (like Zip Lining and Pinball) we figured we could add a trip to the Biltmore Estate without anyone trying to destroy priceless artwork. We were wrong.

Seriously, who wouldn’t want to touch this?

This week we visit the Biltmore Estate. It was a great side trip and the kids (mostly) enjoyed it. There was a slight mishap with our youngest deciding he really really really wanted to reach out and touch pieces of Chihuly glass (not that he would actually do it… or that I’d admit to publicly). On a side note… if your kid does (hypothetically) touch things like this… I’ve been told no sirens blare and no guards appear (hypothetically).

  1. From wikipedia – Vanderbilt named his estate Biltmore derived from “Bildt,” Vanderbilt’s ancestors’ place of origin in Holland, and “More”, Anglo-Saxon for open, rolling land.

  2. Lance – WOW! Thanks! I should have given the kids a research project to find that out.

Thanks for listening! We’ll give you a shout out on an upcoming episode. THANKS!
