We Are Entertained - Hasan Minaj - Homecoming King

This right here, if you’re of a certain age, is what you might call We Are Entertained: A Very Special Episode. Matt and Chris eschew a feature film this week (because what in the world were they gonna go see in a theater?) and take the opportunity to have a heart to heart about Hasan Minaj’s Netflix special Homecoming King. Buckle up; this isn’t what you’re used to from these guys but it’s definitely well worth a listen!

Chris kicks things off this week by sharing his experience with a HBO Original movie called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. This is a film adaptation of the 2010 novel of the same name that documents author Rebecca Skloot’s journey to learn the story of the woman whose cancer cells were responsible for a staggering number of medical advancements in the 20th century. It’s an astounding tale of race relations, medical ethics, and self-discovery that sparks a great discussion.

Matt tunes into the Showtime drama The Affair and discovers what may be one of the best teaching tools for the art of cinematography available today. It’s a fantastic journey into the mind of a filmmaker as Matt talks us through his thoughts while watching the show. Also, it’s a great show and Chris gets to talk longingly about Pacey from Dawson’s Creek.

You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, iHeartRadio, and Stitcher; you can follow the RSS feed; you can download directly; or you can listen right here.

Tune in next week as we continue to experiment with format and new content. Make sure you keep sending in questions, we love answering questions on the show!
