We Are Entertained: 3rd Annual Pre-Oscar Show Extravaganza Jubilee

Movies Podcasts We Are Entertained

Hold your horses friends, this episode is gonna be a wild ride! Nine Academy Award nominees for Best Picture means the longest episode we’ve ever turned out. This also marks the beginning of our third year as a podcast and, through a tremendous lack of foresight and planning, our 99th episode. Oh well, the party will continue next week as we celebrate 100 episodes, but for now let’s get on with the extravaganza!

We were joined this week by our longtime listener and most active giver-of-feedback, Adam, also known as @alousyknave. We divvied up the list of nominees and each introduced three of the films nominated for Best Picture this year. You can use the time codes below to jump ahead in your podcast app to any film you’re particularly interested in hearing us discuss, or just settle in for a three-hour tour.

After we discussed each film, we shared our thoughts on “Who Should Win” and “Who Will Win” in the categories of Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role, Actress in a Leading Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, Actress in a Supporting Role, Animated Feature Film, Directing, Screenwriting, and a few other categories. You can see the list of all Academy Award Nominees here and follow along with us. Let us know what you think of our predictions and share your own!

Since this is a super-sized episode, I’m including time codes to make it easier for you to navigate to your favorite nominee and hear what we thought.

Arrival-3:57, Fences-14:49, Hacksaw Ridge-30:50, Hell or High Water-43:49, Hidden Figures-1:04:02, La La Land-1:24:52, Lion-1:54:49, Manchester by the Sea-2:11:31, Moonlight-2:28:09

To skip right ahead to our predictions, thoughts on the overall nomination process, and other tangential banter fast-forward to 2:54:58.

You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, iHeartRadio, and Stitcher; you can follow the RSS feed; you can download directly; or you can listen right here!

Make sure you tune in next week and hear our thoughts about the Academy Award results and the film Get Out
