Battery anxiety is something most iPhone owners can relate to. Many of us still carry an old-school wallet and chances are it’s seen better days. How these two seemingly random statements related? Nomad’s Horween Leather Charging Wallet is the wallet upgrade you deserve, and it’s packing a 2400mAh battery with a built-in Lightning cable in its spine. Put the two together and you get a beautifully crafted wallet and the cure to your iPhone battery anxiety in one sweet package.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have received a Leather Strap replacement band for the Apple Watch from Nomad in the past. I’ve been impressed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail, and the Strap—which was a looker when it arrived—has aged wonderfully. It gets a lot of comments when it shows up in photos.

The company recently me sent one of their new Horween Leather Charging Wallets to try out, and it is every bit as impressive as the Strap was. Maybe even more so, because this leather is seriously eye-catching.

The wallet is crafted from premium Horween leather and stitched together with beeswaxed linen thread. The look is wonderfully rugged, durable, and reeks of quality. No one is going to mistake this for a mass produced object. And as I learned from the Nomand Leather Strap, it’s only going to get better looking with age. There’s plenty of room for plastic, with six slots and a pair of pockets, plus a full-sized cash pocket. It’s also lined with RFID shielding if you’re worried about security.

But the real bonus is the high capacity Li-ion battery built into its spine. This is a high quality, 2400mAh Panasonic battery, and it has enough juice on tap to fully charge my iPhone 6 and then some. Even with the battery, a microUSB port (to recharge) and a cleverly concealed Lightning cable, it’s not much thicker than a traditional wallet. In fact, It’s slightly thinner than my last wallet.

Mind you, this is a substantial wallet. It’s maybe not the best if you’re fond of skinny jeans. But good news, Nomad is also offering a minimalist Slim version.

It’s also not inexpensive, but this wallet is the kind of accessory that’s an investment. An affordable bit of personal luxury. One you’ll use for years as it gets softer and develops a unique patina. Having a battery available for emergencies without having to fumble around for an external charger that you’re just as likely to have forgotten just when you need it makes it even better.

The Nomad Bi-Fold Horween Leather Charging Wallet is available through Nomad’s website for $149.95, while $119.95 will get you the Slim version.
