The Midwest Media Expo is coming to Detroit, Michigan, this weekend, hosted at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Beginning at 2pm on Friday and running through 6pm on Sunday, the Midwest Media Expo takes over one of the largest hotels in the United States, which also happens to be site of the General Motors Worldwide Headquarters.

The Expo will feature non-stop events, many running overnight, with options sure to please fans of any media. I’ll highlight the major events below:

World Cosplay Summit – National Finals

The World Cosplay Summit will be holding the American Finals at the Expo on Friday and Saturday. Pairs of cosplayers, dressed as characters from anime, television, movies, and video games will showcase their talents. The best team, showcasing both craftsmanship and performance, will represent the United States at the World Finals in Japan.

The Roast of Jon St. John

Jon St. John (the voice of Duke Nukem, Professor Pac-Man, and Big the Cat from Sonic the Hedgehog) will finally get what’s coming to him! Some big guests will be bringing big laughs and big love to the voice from so many of our childhood videogames.

Silent Hill Band LIVE, featuring: Konami Composer Akira Yamaoka and Voice Actress Elizabeth McGlynn

So many big stars on one stage that I don’t know who to showcase first. The Silent Hill Band–yes, the creators of the music that has haunted your every dream for decades–is going to be sharing the stage with the voice actress whose list of credits is too long to put here. Together, they promise to give a show you’ll never forget.

In whole, the Midwest Media Expo promises to give a weekend of excitement and unbridled geekery. If you’re interested, make your way to the Midwest Media Expo website and register while spaces last.
