Now That There’s Klingon Beer, What #scifibeer Should Come Next?

Warnog in Space Can
Today we found out that there’s a Klingon beer coming to a replicator near you:

Klingon Warnog is an official Star Trek beer brewed under license by Tin Man Brewing Company of Evansville, Indiana. This singular beer incorporates rye malt into a modern Dunkelweizen grain bill, creating a flavor profile that is both familiar and unique. Warnog’s aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt. The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor. The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called a Klingon Warnog.

While some of the GeekDads were concerned that a Klingon beer should be a bit stronger than 5.5% abv and 19 IBU’s, that didn’t stop an eruption of ideas for tag lines for this new product:

  • They’re missing the golden opportunity to call it “Blood Light.”
  • “Tastes Great, Less Killing.”
  • “The Kling of Beers”
  • “It’s Killer Time!”

And, most importantly:

His perspiration smells like prune juice.
He once slit a friend’s throat for rubbing the family targ the wrong way.
Tribbles love him.
Forget Shakespeare: He reads James Joyce in the original Klingon.
When he eats live gagh, they willingly jump into his mouth.
He is the most interesting Klingon in the quadrant.

“I don’t always drink beer, but when I do I prefer Hegh cha’.”

“Stay bloodthirsty, my friends.”

But this opens up so many more possibilities. What other SciFi brews should be made, and what could their tag lines be? We want to hear from you, either in the comments, or on Twitter or Facebook. Use the hash tag #scifibeer and let us know!
