After a successful inaugural year with over 1200 events across North America, Star Wars Reads Day strikes back this year on Saturday, October 5. Star Wars Reads Day 2013 boasts a number of events in libraries, schools, and bookstores across the nation, all aimed to honor Star Wars and encourage a love of reading.

Earlier this summer GeekMom Lisa Tate named Star Wars Reads Day one of her five favorite reading events, and it’s easy to see why the celebration appeals to geek families everywhere. If you have reluctant readers in the house–kids or grownups–this could just be what they need to get their nose buried into a great book.

Star Wars Reads Day organizers have provided a recommended reading list for this year’s events, including books like Star Wars Thumb Doodles, Star Wars Origami, and Vader’s Little Princess. Check out GeekMom on October 5 this year for some of our new favorite Star Wars tales, and let us know how you’re celebrating.
