As Ken mentioned last week, Catalyst Games and Hyper Hippo are teaming up on a digital version of Leviathans, the massive airship battle board game. The Kickstarter campaign just launched today, and if you like steampunk and war games, you should check it out. I’ll admit I’m torn on this one: the physical version of Leviathans is gorgeous and there’s nothing like moving huge plastic airships around on the board — but it does take up a lot of space, and it can seem pretty fiddly keeping track of all the rules and figuring out who hit what. It’s exactly the sort of game that a digital version would make a lot simpler to play, letting you focus on the strategy rather than spending a lot of time counting hexes and looking up rules.
As little as $15 gets you a copy of the game — it’s planned for tablet, browser, and mobile platforms — which is a much lower barrier to entry than the physical game, and there are several other reward levels on top of that. Check out the Kickstarter page for more info.
