Fractal Broccoli for the Gardening Geek

Yes, math really is everywhere.

Having just spent the last few hours of daylight preparing containers for our eventual heirloom tomato harvest (Black Krims, Brandywines, Pears, and Baby Brandywines) I happened to swing by Etsy to check out their home page. Apparently they sell seeds there. And apparently there is such a thing as fractal broccoli.

No really:

Referred to as both Veronica Cauliflower & Romanesco Broccoli, this fabulous brassica forms fractals! This hybrid is a vigorous grower with absolutely gorgeous lime green peaked heads comprised of small towering, spiked florets with a milder, sweeter flavour than white cauliflower. They should be eaten when the heads are small. Remains green when cooked. Heat tolerant. Best for fall harvest.

Consider my mind blown.

Etsy seller cubits has a variety of other heirloom varieties, as well. And with Spring officially here, there’s no better time to start planning. Beautiful broccoli aside, cubits also features purple tomatillos, watermelon radishes, and white pumpkins, just to name a few. All welcome additions to any geek’s garden, especially if you want to make a statement.
