Exclusive: Rowan Atkinson’s Johnny English Reborn Takes a “Q” From the Bond Films

Geek Culture

Rowan Atkinson is one of those rare comic actors who has the ability to consistently elicit laughs with a change of facial expression. He’s also versatile enough that I’m convinced that, if he’d been born a decade or so earlier, he would’ve been part of Monty Python. And he’s coming back in a very funny-looking spy movie spoof.

You may recall the original Johnny English from 2003 — it was a fun spy spoof, but missed a lot of its chances and wasn’t that well-received. From what I’ve seen so far of the sequel, it looks to have the promise to be considerably better than its predecessor. Don’t take my word for it, though: check out the video below, exclusive to GeekDad, highlighting the film’s parody of the trademark “Q” gadgets sequences from the James Bond films (excluding the most recent two, that is).

Johnny English Reborn, starring Rowan Atkinson, premieres in North America this Friday, October 21, and is rated PG.
