Phineas and Ferb Comic-Con Announcement, New Online Games!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Phineas and Ferb movie posterPhineas and Ferb movie posterYou may recall a while ago we announced on GeekDad that I’ve been asked by the folks at Disney to moderate the Phineas and Ferb panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) later this month. If you’re going to SDCC, be sure to get to the panel if you can, because the lineup of participants — which Disney officially announced last week — is really great:

FRIDAY, JULY 22: “Phineas and Ferb” – Creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh join cast members Vincent Martella (“Phineas”), Ashley Tisdale (“Candace”), Dee Bradley Baker (“Perry”) and Olivia Olson (“Vanessa”).

They also announced there will be a sneak preview of the upcoming TV movie Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension (the premiere of which is now less than a month away!) the following day at SDCC, with a Q&A session with Povenmire and Marsh following it. I can also promise there will be some really fun never-before-seen video shown at the panel, but I can’t say more than that about it.

As part of the buildup to the movie, Disney has begun to release some excellent interactive online content. Available now are a “2D Yourself” app, which lets you build a Phineas and Ferb-style representation of yourself based on a photo and/or manual selections. You can then download the graphics of the cartoon you for use as an avatar, and you can also play a game that drops you into Danville and lets you run around collecting various online goodies, including inserting yourself into scenes or posters from the movie.

Cartoons of my kids

A new excellent game just went live on the site yesterday, called “Agent P Strikes Back.” It’s a platformer in which you play Perry/Agent P, and try to rescue your fellow agents who have been locked up by the very evil alternate-dimension Doctor Doofenshmirtz. Along the way you tear off robots’ arms and then use the arms to shoot the remaining parts of the robots, use a toilet plunger to stick to walls, and a few other silly surprises I won’t spoil.

I was also hoping I could pick our readers’, and their kids’, brains for questions to ask at the panel. What would you like to know about the show, about the movie, etc.? I can pretty much guarantee the video of the panel will make it onto YouTube not long after the panel’s over, and we’ll be sure to post it on GeekDad when it does — so even if you can’t make it to SDCC yourself, you’ll still be able to see and hear the answers to your questions if I get a chance to ask them. Please leave your suggestions in a comment on this post, or if you have a lot of them please email me.
