Event Deck is an Easy Entry to Magic: The Gathering

Geek Culture

One of the challenges with Magic: The Gathering is that building a deck can intimidate a newbie more than, perhaps, their level of interest can handle. And understandably so: not everyone has the same levels of time, energy and interest. And when you’re participating in a tournament where a long list of rules govern which sorts of cards can be used, some players will definitely need extra help. Wizards of the Coast sent me one their Mirrodin Besieged Event Decks, which consist of a tournament-legal 60-card main deck, a 15-card sideboard (these cards are to tune your deck to your taste) as well as a strategy guide, the game rules and a d20 life counter. It all comes in a reasonably sturdy storage box. They make five, one for every color of mana. So, if you’re interested in participating in a tournament or Wizards’ Friday Night Magic events, you have an easy in.
