Putting The Human In Humanoid Robots

Geek Culture

I’m sure in ten years we’ll consider this humanoid robot to be primitive, but for now it’s certainly amazed me. Still a bit slow, but much faster and fluid than the last Asimo video I watched. The HRP-4 is built by Kawada Technologies, Inc. and Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. It stands about 5 feet tall and weighs in at a nimble 85 pounds. Its 34 degrees of freedom allow for more fluid and human like movements.
