Welcome all to the latest edition of the GeekDad Space Report. Seems amazing that we have made it to May already! The year is flying by so quick! I reported on one launch scheduled for last week, the launch of a Progress supply ship destined for the ISS. The Progress module launched successfully and docked with the ISS on May 1st. There was another launch this past week that had not been on the schedule as of last week, the launch of a classified Russian payload from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Northern Russia. There are no launches currently on the schedule for the coming week so let’s jump right to some Hubble observations.
Interesting Hubble Observations
In many ways, all of the Hubble observations are interesting, but here is a list of some of the standouts in the coming week. A more complete list can be found at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) This Week On HST Website.
This is a small list of the overall observations. You may also see some of these observations popping up in other weeks as many observation programs consist of several observations over time.
Some congratulations are in order to the James Webb Space Telescope team! They have successfully passed their Mission Critical Design Review and are Go to proceed towards launch of the massive observatory. Great job guys!
