Creation Nation Summons Young LEGO Builders

Lego_cn_logo_finalLego_cn_logo_finalLEGO Systems, Inc., yesterday announced the 2nd Annual Creation Nation Creativity Awards. Through May 23rd, 2008, Children in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec) and who are the ages of 6-13 can submit written essays that demonstrate creative ways of thinking their way around everyday challenges.

Designed to encourage lifelong curiosity and creativity, the LEGO Creativity Awards are an opportunity for budding inventors, explorers, creators and dreamers of all kinds to gain recognition for the imaginations that will make them the “builders of tomorrow.”

Five finalists will each receive $5,000 to pursue creative pursuits like art supplies or music lessons.

Last year over 1,000 kids submitted essays. One 2007 winner organized a fundraiser to spruce up a neighborhood pool and turn it into a water park. Another kid created a wooden step that helped his great-grandmother climb into the family minivan.

The list of judges includes GeekDad supreme chancellor Chris Anderson, celebrity chef Duff Goldman, and author Dave Eggers, among others.
