LEGO Skyscraper!

Geek Culture

One of the favorite topics here at the GeekDad blog is how LEGO is in many ways a very important prototyping and visualization tool for grownups. How many times have we found instances of engineers and tinkerers building a gadget in LEGO first?

This skyscraper is an architectural model slash art project build by Copenhagen-based architectural firm BIG. It has 220 apartments with 85 different floor plans, shops, and of course seems pretty darn close to scale. The level of detail is amazing, with graffiti, posters, advertisements, brand name stores, and countless minifig stories playing out inside the apartments. Built from 250,000 LEGOs and 1,000 minifigs, the tower is on display at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York until 11/24.
