For someone interested in aviation, especially homebuilts, general aviation, and vintage aircraft (military and civilian), you can’t get much closer to nirvana than the annual week-long EAA AirVenture convention held at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI.
From the miles of antique, classic, and vintage airplanes (10,000 of them), to the workshops on every aspect of wood, fabric, and metal aircraft construction, to the hands-on activities of KidVenture, to the daily airshows (including huge formation flybys of WWII warbirds — my favorite!), this is way cool stuff — and far more than can be experienced in a day. The dates this year are July 23-29.
