Valentine’s Day is this week, and maybe you’ve got plans to have a romantic night out with a special somebody. But you most likely also have friends that you really love in a totally platonic way. That’s what Yumi Sakugawa’s book is for.
I Think I Am in Friend-Love With You is a little gift-sized comic book that celebrates friend-love, the type that wants to swap favorite books instead of saliva. Sakugawa’s cartoons depict a strange one-eyed hairy thing who’s in friend-love with a … I’m not sure, is that an astronaut?
And it’s a non-romance for modern times, acknowledging the reality of Twitter and Facebook and internet cat jokes, but the sentiment is timeless: it’s for those people you really want to be good friends with, the ones you’d love to hang out with, in a totally non-holding-hands sort of way.
Thanks to Adams Media and Yumi Sakugawa, we’ve got a copy of the book to give away, plus a few of Sakugawa’s self-published comic zines. To enter, fill out the form below (or click here if the form doesn’t work for you) by 10pm PST on Thursday, February 13, and we’ll pick a winner at random! (US & Canada only, sorry!)
Disclosure: GeekDad received a review copy of this book.
I read about this a while back and thought it was a very endearing idea and was glad it exists in the world.
