You knew it back when you could get it on ThinkGeek, and now thanks to our friends at Rollacrit, it’s back and better then ever. Say hello to the new and improved Con Bag of Holding. Rollacrit sent me a prototype to check out.
What Is The Con Bag of Holding?
The Con Bag of Holding is, surprise surprise, a bag designed to take to conventions. It’s also suited for travel, tabletop gaming, and as a general everyday carry bag. It’s made of 600D Oxford with PU coating, printed Tetron cotton lining, and canvas trim, and measures 12″w x 14″ h x “6”d. It has a capacity of 20L, which may be expanded to 22L. It is produced by Rollacrit.
A regular pledge for the Con Bag of Holding is $90. There is also a $90 earlybird pledge for the first 1,000 backers which includes the Con Bag of Holding, free Ita Conversion Kit, and an Early Bird Kickstarter Backer Merit Badge. The Kickstarter campaign runs from now until October 8th at 8pm ET.

The Con Bag of Holding
Just like you’ll find in the regular Rollacrit Messenger Bag of Holding that I reviewed, there’s a ton of storage options within the Con Bag of Holding. There are 18 dedicated storage areas, including dual mesh side pockets, a charging pass-through pocket, customizable elastic MOLLE organization, and more.
Much like a piece of carry-on luggage, the Con Bag of Holding is expandable by unzipping the sides of the bag.
The front panel is removable, and you can replace it with an optional Ita conversion kit.
The Ita conversion kit has a clear display window and showcase for pins, patches, and collectibles.
The insert for the conversion kit is reversible, and has a dedicated keychain organizer on the other side.
Con Bag of Holding – Why You Should Back
My one big regret when I had the prototype in my hands for the Con Bag of Holding was that I didn’t have a convention to attend at the time to take it for a spin. Still, I could see how useful and flexible the bag would be at a convention. The size is, in my mind, just right, allowing you to carry plenty around with you but still being conveniently sized to slide under your chair during a panel.
I love the idea of the conversion kit for showing off your pins and/or keychains. We always receive so many of those things at conventions, it’s nice to have a dedicated (and protected) place to display them to your fellow con attendees. I unfortunately didn’t get a hands-on with the Ita conversion kit, but I’m confident it’s constructed just as well as the rest of the Con Bag of Holding.
And even with just a prototype, the Con Bag of Holding feels like it will hold up through many years of attending conventions and traveling. These bags are built to last, and it shows in the materials and components used in the assembly. I can’t wait to get my hands on an actual production version of the bag, though the prototype already feels pretty refined.
If you’re looking for a convenient shoulder-slung bag for your convention adventures, then you should definitely consider backing the Con Bag of Holding.
