Topeak Biking Gear: Helping Me Explore My Neighborhood

Gadgets Products Reviews

A few months ago, my car decided to take a sabbatical and has been parked in my yard ever since. Until I have the money to get it fixed (in this economy, ha!), I’m stuck using a hand-me-down mountain bike that I’ve revamped to suit my daily needs. Thanks to Topeak, I’ve got all I need to make my trips around town easier.

Topeak makes wonderful gear that suits any biker’s needs. Here are the top items I recommend if you plan on using a bike for your daily transportation.

Topeak rack

Topeak MTX QuickTrack System

Price: Varies
My bike did not have a back rack on it to start. I went with one of Topeak’s MTX QuickTrack system racks so that I could get accessories that would easily lock into it without needing bungee cords or other securing materials. It was one of the best investments I made into my bike, minus the new saddle.

Topeak bag

Topeak MTX TrunkBag EXP

Price: $114.95
Compatible with Topeak’s MTX QuickTrack rack, the MTX TrunkBag slides and locks great and holds 16.6 liters of your stuff for easy transport. What I like about this bag, other than the MTX QuickTrack compatibility, is that the two sides unzip to hold a lot of stuff. For size comparison, I can fit my MacBook Pro 15-inch on one side with room to spare. The middle compartment has a velcro divider so you can organize the inside however you’d like. The bright yellow interior makes it easy to see what you’ve got stored in the middle, and the reflective material on the outside makes you easier to see on the road.

It also comes with a carrying strap for easier carrying.

lights

Powerlux USB Combo

Price: $49.95
I live in the bike accident capital of the country, so when it comes to being on the road, it’s lights, camera, safety. The Powerlux USB Combo comes with two lights, a HeadLux 100 USB lumen front light and the TailLux 25 USB 25-lumen as a rear safety light. The super bright LEDS and ease of charging them via USB make them a great addition to my bike. They mount to my bike with one silicone strap in seconds. The caps come off to reveal the USB that can be plugged into any USB block for quick charging. The batteries will last you up to 40 hours on the lower settings.

hand pump

Roadie DA G Dual Action Hand Pump

Price: $45
It can suck being on the road, having a great day, and then hitting a slump because your wheels need more air. The Roadie DA G dual-action hand pump makes sure that you get back on the road ASAP. The 1-1/8″ diameter easy-to-read analog gauge gives you accurate inflation every time. The dual action system doubles the volume with each pump and will inflate tires to 120 psi/8 bar. It’s super lightweight and fits in your MTX TrunkBag without taking up much space.

Topeak equipped mountain bike

These three easy-to-add accessories have made a comfortable impact on my daily rides. I can fit almost all of my stuff in the Topeak MTX TrunkBag, the HeadLux and TailLux safety lights keep me safe on the dangerous Florida roads, and the Roadie DA G dual action hand pump keeps me rolling when low air pressure tries to keep me down.
