Pop Culture Cookbooks
Suggested By: Z.
Mfg: Insight Editions
Price: $19.49-$21.99
Purchase: Pop Culture Cookbooks

Whether your father is a world-class chef or has yet to master to simple principles of “shake” and “bake,” Insight Editions has a cookbook that’s sure to please. The high fantasy of The Elder Scrolls Cookbook offers rich and decadent recipes from Skyrim, Morrowind, Tamriel, and beyond, with fan favorites like the ubiquitous sweet roll and grilled leeks up to the Gourmet’s own famed Sunlight Soufflé. While it often skews toward more exotic fare—including specialty spice mixtures preferred by Nords and Imperials—cooking techniques are broken down into simple, easy-to-follow steps, and many of the resulting dishes make for both delicious dining and unique culinary showpieces. If, however, your dad is both a wrestling fan and more of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, you can’t go wrong with the WWE: The Official Cookbook. Packed with more than 75 straightforward recipes (and just as many horrible, horrible puns), the whole family can grill and groan along with dishes like Braun Strowman’s Get These Hams and the classic N.W.Oatmeal. Yes, the names are pretty much all dad jokes, but the results are appropriately appetizing. [Review materials provided by: Insight Editions]

LEGO Architecture Skyline Collection: Paris
Suggested By: Jenny Bristol
Mfg: LEGO
Price: $39.99
Purchase: LEGO Architecture Skyline Collection: Paris

A trip to Paris itself might be out of your budget, but it can feel like you’re really there with the new LEGO Architecture Paris kit. A great gift idea for the favorite father in your life, he can also enjoy a bagette, some brie, sparkling drinks, and a chocolate croissant while building it to round out the experience. Though the pieces are mostly small ones, it still blows away my 10 cents per LEGO piece rule weighing in, on Amazon, at less than $40 for 649 pieces. The buildings and icons included are: the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysées, Tour Montparnasse, Grand Palais, Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre. You can also check out other sets in the LEGO Architecture Skyline Collection.

LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Snowspeeder – 20th Anniversary Edition
Suggested By: Jenny Bristol
Mfg: LEGO
Price: $31.99
Purchase: LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Snowspeeder – 20th Anniversary Edition

No, you didn’t read that wrong. It hasn’t been only 20 years since Empire graced the screens. This 20th anniversary marks 20 years of the LEGO Star Wars line of toys, a very welcome addition to their products for many of us. This set includes, of course, Luke Skywalker and Dak Ralter, who both fit in the snowspeeder (with plenty of room for some blasters just in case), a rebel trooper, a ground-based gun turret, and the detailed and functional snowspeeder (it really shoots! as does the turret), including functional tow cable. In addition, it comes with an exact replica of the original Lando Calrissian minifigure on a special stand. At 309 pieces, this set doesn’t quite make my 10 cent per LEGO piece rule, but it does include four minifigures and has bits that actually do things. Pew, pew! (Note: The set includes graphic stickers to put on several of the pieces, but stickers are a weird sensory thing for me, so I chose to leave them off.) You can also check out other sets in the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary line which contain other original minifigures to collect.

Lamo Double Face Moccasin

Lamo Double Face Moccasin
Suggested By: Jonathan H. Liu
Mfg: Lamo
Price: 99.99
Purchase: Lamo Double Face Moccasin

If your dad likes to kick back with some comfy slippers at home (or at work—we won’t judge!), these slippers will pamper his feet. Suede on the outside and fuzzy inside, with a memory foam footbed and a rubber sole, they’re comfortable and durable. I wear slippers at home most of the time, and these have kept my feet happy for a few months so far. My only caveat is that they do make my feet look a little cartoony, but I don’t mind. (Disclosure: I received a sample to try out.)
