Stack Overflow Formatting Guidelines

Note to GeekMom writers: Since Stack Overflow is on the GeekDad side, if you are contributing, Jonathan will need to temporarily give you access to the GD side, or else you can send your post and images to Jonathan to input into WordPress.

Categories:

  • Columns -> Stack Overflow (primary)
  • Entertainment -> Books and/or Comic Books as appropriate

Images: Please use book covers, sized to 500 high, center aligned, followed by the book title & author/illustrator (link to purchase), followed by a blurb about the book itself. The book title/author/illustrator should be H2-formatted.

When writing about a series, feel free to include multiple book covers side-by-side (as a single image)—maximum 1200 wide, otherwise set at 500 height.

Featured Image: Try to use multiple book covers from the post to create a 1200×675 image for the featured image. I usually include it at the top of the post, along with a short introduction to the theme for the column, before the first book entry.

Introduction: Include a short introduction at the beginning to explain the connection between the books (if any), and also include this (or a shorter blurb) in Excerpt.

When a post has multiple contributors, either:

– separate with horizontal lines <hr> and have each person’s name at the head of their section in Heading 1 format, or

– include the contributor’s names in the introductory paragraph, and then mark each entry on the list with the contributor’s name at the end of the paragraph.
