In case you somehow managed to miss the buzz yesterday, this morning at 10:00 AM Eastern (7:00 AM Pacific) we will be treated to a special Pokémon-centric Nintendo Direct. This Pokémon Direct is being touted as “a special video presentation with big Pokémon news!”
This week marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Pokémon franchise, with Saturday the 27th being the official “Pokémon Day” featuring in-store promotions and the long-awaited release of the original ‘Blue,’ ‘Red,’ and ‘Yellow’ Game Boy titles on Nintendo’s eShop. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a trio of books currently available that are sure to please even the most discriminating Pokémon Master. And since you’re only as good as your last hit, each focuses on the most recent sixth generation of ‘Pokémon’ titles.

I don’t know what your plans are for this three-day holiday weekend, but in my house, I guarantee it’ll involve a lot of Pokémon.
The good news is that this week has seen some really cool developments in the core ‘Pokémon’ franchise—’Pokémon’-proper, if you will.
This weekend kicked off with a ton of new information from The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo, including nine brand-new Pokémon that can only be found in the tropical Alola Region.
It was with a fair bit of excitement that I saw the recent release of the ‘Pokémon: The Movies 1-3 Steelbook Blu-ray Collection.’ My kids, however, greeted the set as if they were given Poké Balls and asked to become trainers in real life. In other words, they were thrilled.
