Playmobil Playroom: Playmobil City Life: Furnished School

Sometimes we’ll have step-by-step photos walking you through assembly, maybe we’ll discuss and review a particular set or theme, or maybe we’ll have an unboxing video.

Playmobil’s Furnished School set arrived just in time for, you guessed it, school! My son started first grade at a new school and my daughter started her first year of preschool this year, and both of them were very apprehensive the first several days of school. But then the Playmobil school arrived to help them make school fun.

Ease of Build:

On a scale of 1-5, this set is a 2. Although there are a lot of small pieces, they are mostly accessories and decorations to be placed as desired. The school itself is mostly large pieces that go together easily. The most challenging part was the elevator, but even that was pretty easy.

Coolest Features:

• So much diversity!
• The 7 kids represent a wide variety of races and genders, allowing kids to find themselves represented.
• ADA accessibility. I was surprised to not only find a wheelchair but that the school incorporates several ramps, extra wide doors, and an elevator so the child in the wheelchair can get to and use all the areas of the school realistically.
• The functioning clock that helps kids learn about telling time and can be used as a real alarm clock.

Playability:

With so many parts, figures, and accessories, there is a TON of playability and replay value with this set as is. It seems I keep saying this, but this set has now gotten more play than all of our previous sets. I think seeing figures that they feel accurately represent them and their family has definitely had a huge impact.

Also, similar to the Mars sets I previously reviewed, there are two additional sets you can get to add on to the school to expand the fun—a gymnasium and a history class! As a holder of a History degree, I’d love to get the history class expansion just for my own well-being.
