The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending August 15, 2019.

Gaming News

  • GeekDad Jonathan Liu has nice summaries of day 1 and day 2 of Gen Con up, complete with loads of pictures of the games he saw, and a Gen Con highlights post.
  • Genius Games, maker of science-based games, has acquired Artana, which makes games like Lovelace & Babbage and Tesla vs Edison. Financial details of the deal were not made public.
  • Award-winning game Wingspan is coming to your PC sometime soon.
  • You can now infect your Xbox One and Switch, but in a good way, as Pandemic is now available on both platforms.
  • Jamey Stegmaier, creator of Charterstone and Scythe, has announced his next project: Tapestry, “a competitive, asymmetric, medium-weight civilization-building game.”
  • Rio Grande will be releasing a new Deluxe Edition of the classic game Puerto RicoThe game will include the same components of 2011’s Anniversary Edition, but is being produced as a print-on-demand product, which the company says will result in a lower price point. The game is due to be released next week.
  • Loot Crate has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after its credit card processor said it would no longer handle transactions for the monthly geek subscription service.

    I'm eager to play Burgle Bros 2. I got this first one as the game board but also as app from Tim Towers website.
    I really enjoy this immersive game !
