Carpool Karaoke Features You on The Mic

Unless you have somehow managed to miss one of the biggest viral hits of recent years, you know all about Carpool Karaoke, the recurring segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden where famous musical guests to sing along to their songs with the host while driving in various cities around the world. Episodes have featured Adele, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Céline Dion, and more. Due to its popularity, a stand-alone show was launched as one of the first original content series on Apple TV, and it is now in its second season. Today, Carpool Karaoke The Mic is available, and our own dreams of hit vocals can come true.

We were sent an early Carpool Karaoke The Mic review unit (of course, all opinions are my own), and it is all that my family and I could have asked for. We took the mic on a recent traffic-riddled horror show of a trip from New York City to New Jersey… the ride that should have taken 45 minutes took a solid two hours. Not only did we hear some great songs from my kids, but I got a turn for a full rendition of American Pie (8 minutes and 33 glorious seconds) while waiting to enter the Holland Tunnel. We were, unfortunately, unable to get the traffic officer to join in on the chorus.

Carpool Karaoke The Mic connects to the car’s speakers and lets you perform all your favorites… just don’t take the microphone while you’re behind the wheel.

The Mic is a sing-along microphone designed specifically for use in the car, using the speakers to amplify the karaoke performance. Any karaoke content will stream from your mobile device to the microphone, letting users sing along and then out by connecting to the car’s radio by tuning to an unoccupied station (or you could use the auxiliary input if you have one). All of the setup was incredibly simple—finding karaoke content is a simple search (I would recommend adding “with lead vocals” to your first few attempts if you’re not a karaoke aficionado). The wireless connection to the car’s radio is especially awesome when you’re passing The Mic around a larger car or minivan, giving everyone a chance to rock out.

Whether it’s a family road trip, girls’ night out, or just sitting in traffic, singing in the car will never be more fun. We’re thrilled that fans of the show can now recreate their favorite memories and sing along with their favorite artists.
