It may have started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . . but on Friday, May 31 our collective Star Wars fandom will be in the here and now. That’s right, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland opens this week, to what we can only assume will be record crowds. It’s going to be pretty wild.
Luckily, I’m at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge TODAY! Yes, I somehow managed to smuggle myself all the way to Batuu (for the record, not aboard a Disney cruise ship), which, according to Disney is “a far-flung destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim, on the frontier of Wild Space—the uncharted region beyond all known star systems. The planet is home to Black Spire Outpost, an infamous port for smugglers, traders and adventurers wishing to avoid any unnecessary . . . entanglements with the First Order.”

Note: If you are planning to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the near future please know that reservations are required through June 23, and the only way to get them now that the lottery is over is to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels. Disneyland has stated that there will not be a standby line for those without a reservation. After June 23, guests can schedule their own “boarding party” to visit Galaxy’s Edge via the Disneyland app.
