The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending April 12, 2019.
Gaming News
- If you’re in the Portland area, check out the Stumptown Game Summit on May 18. You can read all about it in Jonathan’s post.
- A new edition of Love Letter is coming soon. The game adds two new roles—the Chancellor and the Spy—and now allows up to six players. You can pre-order it now from the Z-Man website. There’s no indication on the site, even after you place your order (which I know because I did), as to when it will ship.
- Machi Koro is joining the “legacy” game craze with a game described on the site thusly: “We can’t say much, but we can tell you this: Everything will change, and change again across this 10 game narrative arc!” The only real detail is that it will be released “spring 2019.”
- Renegade Studios is taking pre-orders for their upcoming Bubble Tea, a dice and card game with delightful artwork.
- German company Pegasus Spiele has announced Nobjects, an interesting twist on Pictionary, where all of the drawing happens on a blank flat surface like a table, so team members have to guess what is being “drawn” by just watching the player’s hand movements.
- Rick and Morty fans will be glad to see the release of Rich and Morty: Look Who’s Purging Now, a card game based on the popular TV show.
- IDW will be releasing Tonari, a tile-placement game from designers Bruno Faidutti and Alex Randolph with art by Kwanchai Moriya. The game is due to be released in August.
- Paranoia, the classic RPG, is getting a digital treatment, and developer Big Ben Games has released a trailer for the game.
- Fans of Bezier’s One Night series can now take the roles of heroes or villains in One Night Ultimate Super Villians.
- Asmodee Digital has announced that they will be releasing Catan on the Nintendo Switch on June 20.
