Kickstarter Alert: ‘Yuri Was Very Brave,’ a Children’s Book About the First Human in Space

Books Kickstarter

When it comes to space exploration, the first names that come to most people’s — or, at least, most Americans’ — minds are Glenn, Armstrong, Aldrin, and maybe Shepard. But the Space Race ended with the breakup of the Soviet Union back in 1991, so it’s high time the cosmonauts got their due. So it’s fitting that today, April 12, also known as Yuri’s Night, we mention a Kickstarter campaign for a book to teach little kids about Yuri Gagarin, the Soviet cosmonaut who was the first human being to leave the Earth’s atmosphere and the first to orbit the planet.

Watch the campaign video above, and check out the campaign for Yuri Was Very Brave. The campaign ends on May 3, 2019, and is as of this writing 38% funded.

NOTE: The book’s author, Jason Cranford Teague, is a former writer for GeekDad and a personal friend of mine. However, I would think the book was pretty awesome even if those weren’t the case.
