This year marks 35 years since The Karate Kid debuted in theaters. To commemorate the milestone, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released the film on home video in 4k Ultra HD.
Recently, I had the opportunity to talk with Martin Kove about the legacy of the series, portraying Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese, and about the second season of Cobra Kai, which premieres Wednesday, April 24, on YouTube.
“It’s in the writing, you know. It’s in the fact so many identified with, initially, in 1984, one of three elements. They were either a fish out of water situation. Their parents moved around, the military, or whatever. Or, they were bullied. Or they had a wonderful romance in high school that didn’t work out. One of those three elements has always been present in why everybody truly identifies with this movie.”
