We Are Entertained - Greta

This week we kick things off by talking about our new and improved Patreon perks. We’d love for you to let us know what you think of the new options and please, PLEASE let us know if there’s something you’d like to see that we haven’t thought of yet. You can find us at patreon.com/weareentertained.

And, of course, we dive into the not-foreign film Greta and have a rousing debate about why it wasn’t as good as it should have been.

Chris fought the instincts that warned him to flee and saw Isn’t It Romantic and was pleasantly surprised, both by how good the film was and by how upset Matt got when he kept referring to Rebel Wilson as “Fat Amy.” Much sensitivity training follows. This is one of the most meta works of art you’ve ever seen and there is so much fourth-wall breaking it’s a wonder the whole thing can stand on its own (haha), but it definitely delivers.

Matt brings the lighthearted joviality that you’ve come to know and love as he shares the Netflix film A Futile and Stupid Gesture with us. This biopic is a must-see if you’re a fan of comedy and is sure to open up a whole new world of understanding to those of us who think of SNL as the beginning and the ending of all that’s funny.

Finally, we dive into this week’s feature Greta. This film is sure to introduce many in the states to Isabella Huppert, one of our favorite actresses. Everything about this one seems to set it up for success—the talent is top notch, the cinematography is top notch, the genre is as close to a sure thing as you’ll find outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, things don’t work out quite the way we had hoped. Tune in to hear what we think went wrong and let us know if you disagree!
