We Are Entertained: 'Captain Marvel'

Captain Marvel, what a great way to kick off March Movie Madness! This week represents the first Marvel Cinematic Bookend for our March Movie Madness Comic Book edition. We’ll be tallying your votes and crowning a comic book movie champion just in time for the release of Avengers: Endgame. This week Chris takes on the Netflix original The Umbrella Academy and discovers that Matt is already a huge fan. It’s a good thing too, at only 4 episodes in Chris was feeling a little unsure of whether or not to continue but after receiving the “Duuuuuuuude” from his stalwart co-host he knows he must continue. Do you agree, is this must-see TV?

Speaking of TV shows that everyone is on the fence about, Matt finally caves in and watches Season 3 of True Detective on HBO. This is one that has vexed all of us; Season 1 was some of the best television ever and everyone agrees that Season 2 existed, we think. Is it good news or bad news? Well, you’ll have to tune in to find out now, won’t you?

The boys finally get down to business and dish their feelings about Captain Marvel. It’s a film that Chris has been anticipating for so long, because he and his kids love Carol Danvers and (almost) all the different variants of Captain Marvel. Matt, of course, is a sucker for anything in the MCU so he bought his ticket months ago. Black Panther broke the mold for comic book movies and was nominated for an Academy Award; will Captain Marvel follow suit? Will we see Brie Larson on the red carpet come Oscar season?
