The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending March 22, 2019.

Gaming News

  • According to a press release, Dire Wolf has “announced that their popular free-to-play digital collectible card game (CCG) Eternaland the award-winning board game Raiders of the North Sea, are coming to the Nintendo Switch this spring.” Both games will be playable across “all supported platforms.”
  • John McClain will finally be coming to the tabletop at last with the upcoming release of Die Hard: The Nakatomi Heist Board Game from The Op. While it seems like the game should be a Christmas release, it will instead be coming out this spring.
  • If you’re attending GenCon or PAX Unplugged, AEG is looking for volunteers to run games on its Big Game Night, including three new games like Point Salad. Details on how to apply are on their website.
  • Meanwhile, AEG is heavily promoting its new Tiny Towns, a game where players “compete to build the most amazing Town.” It’s due out in April.
  • Dune, the “much admired, long out-of-print, and difficult to find game that is a holy grail for many boardgamers” will soon be back on shelves thanks to a reprint from Gale Force Nine. It’s the first in what promises to be a series of titles based on the classic novels leading up to next year’s movie.
  • River Horse is expanding its line of games based on movies I loved growing up with Labyrinth – The Adventure Game, an RPG set in Jim Henson’s magical realm. The game is due out later this year.
  • Some lucky folks attending PAX East will be able to buy Clank! Legacy Acquisitions Incorporated Upper Management Packan expansion to the game that includes characters, boards, and unique starting decks. The set, which is compatible with both existing Clank! games as well as the upcoming Clank! Legacy Acquisitions Incorporated, will be available everywhere this fall.
  • Ten years ago this week, the final episode of Battlestar Galactica aired. In honor of that, our featured image this week is from the board game.
