Amazon Prime has changed a lot over the years, and while some of its signature features have slipped a bit—in my neck of the woods, free two-day shipping has become more like free it’ll-get-there-when it-gets-there shipping—Amazon continues to add enough new value to keep me subscribing. One of these more recent developments is Twitch Prime, and you can currently use that service to get up to 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online for free.

Positioning itself as “a premium experience on Twitch that is included with Amazon Prime and Prime Video memberships,” Twitch Prime offers free bonus games and in-game content, a free monthly channel subscription, additional broadcast storage, and more. Like much of the game-streaming landscape, it tends to skew toward the PC side, but now you can use it to score a year of Nintendo’s Switch Online service gratis—though, admittedly, it does take a little work on your end.

First, if you haven’t already, link your Amazon Prime and Twitch accounts. Next, proceed to this page to claim three months of free Switch Online. After 60 days, return to the site to get nine more months of Nintendo Switch Online.

Note that this is the standard annual Individual Membership (not to be confused with the superior Family Membership, which I fully and frequently recommend), but the good news is if you’re already an Individual subscriber, this free offer stacks on your existing membership.

So go forth and collect your bounty, and enjoy a free year of online play, cloud save backups, and the growing library of NES games available on your beloved Nintendo Switch.
