Yowzers, we’ve got a humdinger of an episode for you this week. Not only do the boys give their take on Ralph Breaks the Internet but we have two very special guests of the very small Wickersham variety! Chloe, who you hear Chris talk about all the time, and Lucas, who is the most little brother of all little brothers, drop in and share their perspective on RBTI. You don’t want to miss this one!
Things kick off this week with the return of the MoviePass Update. It’s been a while but you can’t keep a good segment down. Chris shares one of the most interesting media adventures he’s been on in a while. As an avid podcast listener (as I’m sure you are, good friends) I’m sure you’re familiar with WNYC Studios and all of the great shows they produce.
One of Chris’ favorites is More Perfect and for their recently completed third season, they did something unusual and (he thinks) fantastic. The studio commissioned an album from a variety of talented artists and called it 27: The Most Perfect Album, a homage to the 27 Amendments to the US Constitution. You heard me, an album dedicated to the US Constitution. And it’s good, really surprisingly good. Furthermore, they dedicated the entire season of More Perfect to producing so-called liner notes for the songs wherein they go into detail and explain both the story behind the Amendment and the song which was inspired by it. It. Is. Fantastic. You can read more about it at http://themostperfectalbum.org
Leave it to Matt to try and kindle the Christmas spirit, Ho Ho Ho. Watching what is sure to be, uh, a new Christmas classic, Matt can’t say enough good things about The Christmas Chronicles. This is, we’re not kidding, Kurt Russell as Ol’ St. Nick and some of the funniest little elves that have ever graced the frames of a Christmas movie. It’s really cute, it’s tender and lighthearted, and you won’t be able to avoid falling for it. It’s like Christmas movie version of Die Hard.
And finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Two of Chris’ kids crash the studio and give us their hot take on Wreck It Ralph Breaks the Internet. We may be biased but we think it’s the cutest thing you’ll hear today. If you just can’t stand to wait, fast forward to 1:06 and prepare for hilarity. If you like their segment drop a comment and we’ll see if we can get them back on.
Make sure you check out the Q&A that GeekDad Whit did with the cast of Ralph Breaks the Internet!
