Kickstarter Tabletop Alert: ‘Welcome To’ Returns… Welcome Back?

Gaming Kickstarter Tabletop Games

This is a public service announcement. Picture me as your favorite G.I. Joe, or your friendly neighborhood Spider-man, or Jeff Bridges. It doesn’t matter. The point is, I’m not here to tell you why Welcome To is one of the best games of 2018. Nor am I here to tell you how to to play it. If you want a more in-depth look at the game you can check out Jonathan Liu’s review here. No, I’m not here to tell you any of those things… I’m here to tell you that Welcome To is back, this time on Kickstarter. So why are you still standing here?

I was one of the lucky few to get Welcome To early this year when the limited-run pre-order shipped, and it didn’t take long to vault its way into my favorites of the year. It’s easy to learn, easy to teach, travels well, provides numerous strategies and room to work, and most of all gives you the feeling of creating something that can take a game from “fun once in a while” to “must-play nightly.”

I’ll admit, a large part of my infatuation with Welcome To is thanks to my wife who doesn’t typically share my passion for boardgames. In fact, thus far in our relationship I have only found one game that she willingly plays with me (Patchwork). Well, that is until I brought Welcome To home. It only took one play for her, who normally will only game when I beg and plead, to request to play it again. And again. And again.

Unfortunately, the pre-order was limited and, while a few copies made it out into retailers, those too seemed to vanish in the blink of an eye. So luckily for anyone left empty-handed Deepwater Games is bringing it back, this time on Kickstarter so everyone who wants a copy will be able to lock one down (with anticipated delivery in March of 2019). Not only that, but this campaign promises stretch goals, additional game pads, mini-expansion cards, and also a Halloween-themed game pad that brings a couple of new elements to the game.

So whether you’ve never heard of Welcome To, or you wanted it but couldn’t get it, or even if you’ve been playing it for months like I have, this campaign has something for you. So I ask you again: why are you still standing here?
