Bendy and the Ink Machine now on Nintendo Switch

On November 20th, Rooster Teeth and Joey Drew Studios released the popular indy PC video game Bendy and the Ink Machine on PS4, XboxOne, and Nintendo Switch!

What Is It?

Bendy and the Ink Machine has been an enormously popular indy video game on PC since 2017. The game is an episodic, first-person action puzzle horror game. You play as Henry, who is returning to the darker memories of his past in the animation studio where he had previously worked. After discovering the Ink Machine, Henry must survive the puzzles and enemies who try to stop him from leaving the building. Bendy and the Ink Machine, like the previously reviewed Cuphead, uses the animation style of the 1930s, but whereas Cuphead was bright and colorful, BATIM uses black and gold tones to give the world a dark and atmospheric feeling.

Thoughts and Recommendation

Bendy and the Ink Machine is a game that I enjoyed playing on PC, so when I heard that a version would be available for the Nintendo Switch, it piqued my interest. One of my major concerns was if the game would have to sacrifice the quality of gameplay for the handheld system. Bendy and the Ink Machine for Nintendo Switch met all of my expectations. The look, style, and feel of the game are all there. The creepiness of the game translates well to the small screen, especially if the player is having a bedtime gaming session.

Bendy and the Ink Machine is a game that you can get lost in. The world is so fascinating and creepy that it draws you in and then spooks you out. The puzzles are just challenging enough to keep you playing without becoming frustrating. The horror is terrifying without being gory or explicit, which makes it accessible for some younger players—especially if they enjoy the occasional fright.

The game was originally released in chapters, which was also a novel idea, but the new console versions come complete. I definitely recommend Bendy and the Ink Machine for anyone who wants an escape from the world of AAA Battle Royales and a return to solid storytelling. At the lower price, you can get a great deal—and more fun than many of the titles that will cost you double your dollars this holiday season. So take a journey into the world of ink.

You can purchase a copy of Bendy and the Ink Machine for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $29.99.
