Bring Home ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ for Your Own Colossal Family Movie Night

Treats to delight and amaze

While we got out relatively unscathed here in upstate South Carolina, Hurricane Florence did manage to keep us inside for the entirety of last weekend. Though the power disruptions were few and minor, she did also take out our internet Saturday afternoon, meaning no YouTube for the kids and no Splatoon 2 for dear old dad. Luckily, we’d just received a care package containing everything we needed for an epic family movie night featuring a film 65 million years in the making, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom now available on Blu-ray!

With the wind howling outside, we settled in with gourmet popcorn, Jurassic World sweets, #TeamJurassic t-shirts for the whole family (even the more camera-shy members), and, most importantly, our very own copy of Jurassic World : Fallen Kingdom, available now on Blu-ray.

Picking up shortly after the thrilling conclusion of 2015’s Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom sees the return of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing to Isla Nublar at the behest of the reclusive Benjamin Lockwood. They’re accompanied by IT tech Franklin Webb, dino vet Zia Rodriguez, and a cadre of soldiers-for-hire as they attempt to save the remaining dinosaurs from an imminent volcanic eruption.

Candy Raptor claws and Jurassic World Pez

Of course, not all of our players’ motives are just, and what unfolds is an action-packed adventure that culminates in the unveiling of the genetically engineered war machine called the Indoraptor and the triumphant return of Blue the Velociraptor at her heroic best. With more than its fair share of plot twists and a tense ending that my family is still debating, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is an easy favorite, resplendent with humor, dinosaur combat, and the equally notable return of the indomitable Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm.

My son loved the action, my daughter loved the heart, and my girlfriend—the true Jurassic Park aficionado of the family—loved the way this far-flung tale felt so rooted in our own modern world. Personally, I loved all the extras; this Blu-ray release is positively packed to the gills with amazing bonus features.

Oh, and I love the fact that Universal Pictures Home Entertainment also provided me with a giant, inflatable Velociraptor costume. (Because what’s family fun without a little good-natured silliness?)

So, whether you’re dealing with stormy weather or just looking for a phenomenal film for the whole family to enjoy, bring home Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on Blu-ray, and discover that your favorite franchise is alive and well—and it’s never looked better!
