As any fan of Mignola’s work will know, Rasputin brought Hellboy to Earth. He did so by following a voice that had called him and brought him back from the dead; a powerful sound that had repeatedly enchanted numerous magicians and priests across time: the Voice of the Dragon.

Professor Bruttenholm is on his first mission, he suspects that the Third Reich is dabbling in the occult. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense has not been funded yet, but that doesn’t mean that tons of interesting characters will stop fighting the ghosts and monsters out there…

Thought as a prequel to Hellboy: The Right Hand of Doom (Hellboy’s first appearance), this series explore the mysteries behind an infamous association: the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra, and the secret location of a powerful tomb they had left well-guarded. By calling forth a greedy soul; Rasputin’s acolytes will try to harness the power this association has left behind. Of course, the doctors and evil geniuses that hover around Rasputin are very characteristic:


The series give us a first glimpse of Hellboy’s universe, through an interesting buildup of events, with an Indiana Jones’s vibe that is hard to shake off, especially since Nazis where so fond of ancient Egyptian rites. Since we have not yet reached the place where Hellboy will first appear, it is clear that this story has only just begun…
