Playmobil Playroom: Aquarium

Products Reviews Toys

Welcome to the Playmobil Playroom, where we take a monthly peek inside those impressive blue boxes and see what treasures await within. Sometimes we’ll have step-by-step photos walking you through assembly, maybe we’ll discuss and review a particular set or theme, or maybe we’ll have an unboxing video.

My kids, my son, in particular, love going to the aquarium. Since just after he was born, my son has had an affinity for sea life and the aquarium here in Seattle, so when Playmobil asked if we wanted to check out their new Playmobil Aquarium Building Set, we jumped at the chance!

Here’s their first impression of the set. Needless to say, they were very excited to get started!

Specs:

  • Product Number: 9060
  • Number of Pieces: 112 pieces
  • Number of figures: 2 adults (1 male, 1 female) and one child (plus a bunch of sea animals!)
  • Extras required: Water to fill the tank if you want to fully enjoy the set

Ease of Build:

On a scale of 1-5, this set is about a 2. The majority of the pieces are things that go into the aquarium tank, and while some pieces, like sticking the coral together and getting fish to sit on the little pegs, might be tricky for smaller kids, my five-year-old son helped with all of the assembly with little assistance from me.

Coolest Features:

  • You can fill it with water! What perfect timing considering the heat wave we are having up here in the Pacific Northwest!
  • The hidden viewing spots to see inside the aquarium.
  • My son really likes that it has a clock that shows the schedule.

Playability:

Plenty! Not only did my kids love the fact that I was letting them play with a water toy in the house, they were taking turns using the schedule to announce shows, feeding time, etc. Also, they quickly discovered that all of their other toys also enjoyed visiting the aquarium, to watch or to take a turn in the water. Just make sure you have towels on hand! And even with it empty, they still enjoy playing with it and the aquarium tank also serves as a convenient storage bin for all of the parts when not in use.
