The Bodleian Library, Oxford is hosting a new exhibition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s drawings. Famed for the Lord of the Rings, and his creation of new races and languages, it is often forgotten that he was a fine illustrator too. Find out more about his artwork and the exhibition in this very informative piece on the BBC Arts website. It has lots of interesting information about Tolkien’s creative process and the evolution of his work and illustrations.  There’s also a picture of Tolkien’s hand-annotated map of Middle Earth, making the link more than worth a click!

For those fortunate enough to be able to get to Oxford in the coming months, the paintings are on display now until the 28th October.
