E3 2018 PlayStation Recap

The quality of the games showcased by Sony PlayStation at E3 was top notch. The quantity, however, was abysmal compared to Microsoft Xbox and prior years for Sony PlayStation. One of the best features of the PS4 is the sheer number of games, especially independent games, that are released for it each year. So I’m a bit befuddled as to why they only showed such a small amount and had very few details about the behind the scenes like the other console platforms always provide.

If you work for Sony PlayStation and can get word to the team, I’m happy to organize this shindig for them next year so it is the spectacle we all want to see.

That said, here are the highlights of the games announced during tonight’s E3 Sony PlayStation event:

  • The Last of Us Part 2 has no release date yet but we were able to see actual gameplay with the recurring character of Ellie. Check it out below. It is very intense so viewer beware.
  • Destiny 2 Forsaken releases September 4th, 2018.
  • Ghost of Tsushima, no release date yet, is perhaps the second most beautiful game I’ve seen so far with E3. Second only to Ori and The Will of the Wisps.
  • Control releases in 2019.
  • Resident Evil 2 releases January 25th, 2019.
  • Death Stranding has no release date yet but is rife with celebrity faces and voices. Check it out below.
  • Nioh 2: no release date yet.
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man is probably the most anticipated release for this E3 event and it looks very fun.
  • Playstation VR will feature a lot of games; check out the splash video from the event to see all of the featured games.
  • Trevor Saves the Universe: no release date yet.
  • Kingdom Hearts III releases January 29th, 2019.
  • New Game+ coming to God of War so that you can play it over and over again.

As I mentioned, the Sony PlayStation event was a bit of a letdown as I was really hoping for more games to be showcased. There were no fun speakers, no insights into the development process, and just nothing more than a few random panel moments here and there and a bunch of videos with no introduction whatsoever.
