In celebration of Star Wars Day and the upcoming release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, LEGO has built a massive Millennium Falcon pedicab that now offers free rides around Bryant Park in Manhattan.
This interpretation of the Millennium Falcon is a new design, unlike the other versions LEGO has produced. It boasts an astonishing and mind blowing 20,300 bricks, and is around 9 feet by 6 feet in dimensions.
Why make a huge LEGO pedicab?
The LEGO Group is working with Star Wars: Force for Change for the UNICEF fundraising challenge Roar for Change. Using the hashtags #LEGOStarWars and #RoarForChange, fans can raise money. SW: FfC will donate $1 for every public post, like, or share on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter that includes #RoarForChange. The LEGO Group encourages fans of LEGO and Star Wars, and supporters of UNICEF, to snap selfies on the pedicab while they enjoy their free ride, and share them with the hashtags to help raise money.
You can watch a timelapse of the building of the pedicab below. Keep in mind, it took a whopping 396 hours for the designers to create this version of the Millennium Falcon!
If you’re in Manhattan, head over to Bryant Park for a free ride (or 20). The pedicab will only be available until May 25th, the same day that Solo: A Star Wars Story is released in theaters.
