The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending May 25, 2018.
- PAX Unplugged tickets are now available for sale. It takes place in Philadelphia again, from November 30 to December 2, which doesn’t interfere with BGG.con this year. There will be lots to do, so get your tickets before they disappear!
- Clank! (read our review) gets another expansion and this one might be the end. At least that’s what I think when I hear Apocalypse! I suppose there’s always a chance you’ll be able to defeat the obstinate Lord Eradikus, but one thing is for sure — it’ll be fun trying!
- There are just a handful of tickets left for our event at Gen Con. If you’re going, please sign up — we’d love to see you!
- One of my favorite new games, Dragon Castle, becomes available today. It’s like Mahjong but with a twist. Read more about it and then head out to pick up a copy of this infinitely replayable and challenging set collection and building game.
- So you missed out on Fury of Dracula the first time when Games Workshop had it (or second and third when Fantasy Flight was in charge). No worries, WizKids has it now and a new, fourth edition is on the way. In the new version, there will be an improved rulebook, bigger cards, and fully painted minis. Look for it on shelves in July.

- The movie version of Ready Player One completely ignored Joust, the true final test before receiving the copper key. Not IDW Games, though. After running through several Atari-clad games, the publisher turns its 8-bit eye to Williams and the greatest game to ever feature an ostrich. The game will use a “unique momentum system” and be available in late August.
- In “zombie all the things” news, Wizards of the Coast has pulled back the curtain on Axis & Allies Zombies, showing off the box art. In addition to enemy forces, players will have to fight back against the undead when the game drops, just before Halloween, this fall. Sounds fun!
- More WotC news? Betrayal Legacy, the Rob Daviau designed legacy version of Betrayal at House on the Hill, has a release date—November 9. The game will tell the story of how that house became haunted over a series of generations and all the awful things that have happened there.
- Coming to shelves this week, the highly anticipated expansion for Viticulture (read our review), Visit from the Rhine Valley, Istanbul Dice, a quicker playing version of the staple game, Gobs of Jobs, a game I know nothing about but like saying the title, and a 10th Anniversary Jumbo Edition of the pick up & deliver classic Container. (This version was previously Kickstarted.)
