Legends of Tomorrow has been fantastic this season. The time travelling superhero show wears it’s big, goofy heart on its sleeve. Leaning into pop culture references and ridiculous scenarios has allowed the series to really hit its stride in this, the program’s third season. Whether they’re serving up episodes that pay homage to films like E.T. and Alien, making actor-specific references–see Professor Stein’s thoughts on the Titanic or Nate’s cougar (town) hunting–juggling guest stars like John Noble, writing off series staples like Firestorm, introducing new characters like Zari, redeeming (sort of) Damien Darhk, or creating Beebo, the team of Legends writers have made the program one of the best returning series on television.

Last week, I got the chance to talk with a number of the Legends writers to discuss their writing process, season three–specifically tonight’s third season finale–and more. Those joining me in the conversation were writers Morgan Faust, Keto Shimizu, Ty Carter, Matt Maala, and Ubah Mohamed.
