Koshchei the Deathless , Writer: Mike Mignola, Artist: Ben Stenbeck, Colorist: Dave Stewart, Cover Artist: Mike Mignola

Koshchei keeps making mistakes and paving his own path towards Hell. In Koshchei the Deathless , he meddles with something he should well have kept away from: love.

Warning: Spoilers Below

The magic he has learned has no clear purpose. After waking his former girlfriend from the grave and marrying her ghost on the spot, he abandons her. Another girl has come to call, a witch, and he falls head over heels for her, forgetting everything, including the one he woke up from the dead and left behind. This will surely have consequences.

Besides, the bewitching lady is no one other than Baba Yaga herself, her enemy, and the fight that will inevitably come will burn down mountains, as all great and strained love stories end up doing, when pride is involved.

This fourth issue is all about pride: pride and lack of guidance, both terrible counselors. Because he is so full of it, Koshchei will not only attempt to destroy Baba Yaga but in doing so, he will hunt down all the witches he can find, absorbing their powers, feeling more powerful than ever. So powerful, in fact, that he is ready to boast about his uppermost-kept secret: where his soul is hidden…

Pride makes us overconfident.
