In Koshchei The Deathless #3, Koshchei betrays his master and deals with the consequences thereof.

This is such an exciting issue of this series. Not only because of the story itself, still true to the first plot development, but for all its inherent potential. The world described contains more than the Hellboy-verse: it is pure magic.

What if the dragons held a power no one else could have? What if that power was bestowed by creators that are far different from what we imagine? What if Koshchei could learn about this magic?

After killing all the dragons that where left on Earth, Koshchei has taken a turn for the worse. Not only is he sorry about having killed the offspring of the very dragon that saved and preserved his soul; but he now knows that by allowing this, he turned himself into a monster: a soulless one.

In this third issue, what matters most is the guidance.

With no soul and no human fears, Koshchei is set now upon learning the magic of dragons. The use of it, however, eludes him. He only is familiar with two things: murder and war, and murdering and warring are all he does. Even when he tries to do a good thing, – like stopping a deadly weird canary from singing and killing everyone who hears him – good intentions end up badly. He is still paving his own path to Hell. (After all, that is where he is now, telling Hellboy about his misadventures).

However, we still want to know exactly how is it that he wound up in Hell; this is all about the journey, and the stories told on the way.

Koshchei the Deathless #3 has been on sale since March 07, 2018.
